Social media optimisation is a combination of using the platforms of social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. These are used to develop a campaign to generate interest in your website and business through the social interactivity they offer. The newest social media network is Pinterest and this is just as valuable for your business promotion!

Over time your popularity increases giving you a substantial online community that you can access and where you can promote your products and services.

It’s a simple, free concept that should be utilised by all businesses. Here’s how to create a campaign.

      • Start with your main website – Fill it with good, useful content for our customers – easy to navigate and able to access all your social media outlets at the click of a button.
      • Then create a blog which is able to showcase your press releases or point people to them. The blog is a funnel to your website, it is updated regularly with interesting, relevant information and can be utilised by RSS.
      • Have a regular outlet for your press releases – this is not only your blog but a professional service.
      • Use the information you have written for your website as article fodder and post the information on article distribution sites to gain more leads and improve your credibility in your field.
      • Join the social networks that will benefit your business the most. Be selective in who you follow and keep the contact professional but friendly. Dedicate about 20 minutes a day to your social networks and automate as much as possible. This means linking your blog to your social media sites, then any information you write on your blog will be linked to on your social media sites at once!

Check out the Interesting Statistics

The rate of social media advertising is outgrowing all other media avenues. Consider this when marketing your business.

Facebook
Facebook can be used as a highly effective business marketing tool. It’s great for marketing your products, recruiting and connecting with your customers.

Twitter
People are using Twitter as an effective way to market and personalise their businesses. All size businesses can communicate quickly and easily to let the world know what they are doing in their business.

Virtual Product Launches

Virtual product launches are a cheaper and more effective way to get the word out about your new product or service without having to arrange an event at a venue.

The hype about the launch is generated through your social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter etc) before the actual date of the launch and you can even release ‘teaser’ video clips on YouTube to create more apprehension.

The launch is then done by invitation (virtual of course!) and a time announced to watch the launch ‘live’ via a webcast. Everything you would have done at an event can be done in the webcast but the great thing is many, many more people will be seeing it via your webcast. Another strong point is that the recording of the webcast can then be sent out via your emailing list and newsletter and people can watch it again or for those who missed it they can see it for the first time. You can promote your webcast through your social media outlets for weeks after the event and still create an ongoing buzz weeks after the actual launch.

Twitter to your LinkedIn Group
LinkedIn allows you to publish your tweets or any other feed content to the LinkedIn Group News section. To setup, you can go to your LinkedIn Group, click the ‘News’ tab, and then click ‘Manage news feeds. Add the RSS feed of your Twitter account there. The RSS feed is available on the homepage of each Twitter account. For instance, to get the RSS feed of Twitter account Aussie Product Review you can go to http://twitter.com/AussieBusiness and grab the link that says “RSS feed of AussieBusiness’ tweets”, which is found on the right menu or by clicking the RSS icon in the address bar at the top of the browser (look for the RSS icon (shown above) at the end of the browser’s URL field: you can click the blue icon in Safari, or the orange one or RSS button in Firefox.)

Twitter to your LinkedIn Profile
Log in to your LinkedIn account, then click on the ‘more’ option in the menu and then ‘Application Directory’ to preview the LinkedIn tweets application. Once you have setup Tweets, the application automatically grabs your tweets from Twitter and uploads them to your LinkedIn Profile.
